Talk Abstract:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has revolutionized the way we live and work. In this talk, we will provide a brief overview of AI and its key milestones. We will then introduce Machine Learning, a subset of AI, and its role in powering intelligent systems. We will focus on two specific applications of AI: continuous monitoring and anomaly detection in the context of the Internet of Things (IoT), and intelligent customer service. With the help of AI, businesses can monitor their assets in real-time and detect any anomalies, allowing for timely intervention and preventing potential damage. However, AI also poses significant cybersecurity risks, and we must be vigilant in addressing these challenges. We will conclude the talk by emphasizing the importance of recognizing human values and ethical principles while developing AI applications.

About the Speaker:
Prof. Yuh-Jye Lee received his PhD in Computer Sciences from UW-Madison in 2001. He has held various academic positions including Assistant Professor at National Chung Cheng University and later Professor at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology and National Chiao Tung University. He was the Executive Director of the Cybersecurity Special Center and Alliance Project at the Information Technology Innovation Center at Academia Sinica, 2018-2021. Prof. Lee's research focuses on AI, data science, machine learning, and information security, with a particular interest in lightweight anomaly detection techniques for IoT applications. He has developed numerous efficient machine learning algorithms over the past decade, which have been successfully applied in various fields, including network intrusion detection and fake news prevention.
